Thank you for your most recent correspondence with my office regarding student loans. I always appreciate hearing from you on the important issues facing our nation, and, as always, am happy to provide my thoughts in response.

You will be happy to know that on January 21, 2015, Representative John Delaney (MD-06) introduced H.R. 449, the Discharge Student Loans in Bankruptcy Act of 2015, which would make student loans dischargeable under bankruptcy. This legislation has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee, but has not yet been considered.

While I have not changed my position on student loan bankruptcy, I am honored and grateful you continue to maintain a dialogue with me about your thoughts on this issue. Please continue to write and call my office to keep me informed about your opinions.

Also, should the Discharge Student Loans in Bankruptcy Act of 2015 reach the House floor for a vote, I will be sure to keep your support in mind.
